Was driving in the south of Calgary and saw a Virgin 747-400 on approach for 34. I assume that it is VS019 to SFO as it appears to be delayed into SFO. Probably a medical/mechanical diversion. Just thought I'd let the YYC spotters know.

Must be a technical stop!

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com says it's delayed for 22hrs into SFO

Thanks for the info though

According to flightarrivals.com VS007 to LAX is also scheduled to land in Calgary at 14:05. Quite odd, will have to watch out my window at work to see if actually comes in as well.

The first one will be a miss.  Sad
Ah well..
It was a medical diversion so nothing too serious.

The second flight #7 as shown on flightarrivals.com seems interesting.
Kris and I will be there to make sure.

The VS 744 is parked on the International Finger, on gate C25. Registry is G-VAST, "The Power of 4."

You might be able to see it from AC cargo, maybe the ATS building, or the service road.

I'm airside right now, so I'll probably go look at it in a while.

Well,

There's a big one on us YYZ spotters! Awesome. Even if someone croaks LHR-JFK they divert to YHZ at best...  Sad

Don't be so negative Greg! We got the AF 777 that wanted to explode! We also got the AA 777 that wanted to burn to a crisp. Both were very exciting to watch as the drama could have unfolded. But noooooo, passengers deplaned normally in both cases. hehehe. But that's two near evacuations of the 777 at YYZ where I was around.

The 744 left; pushed back from the gate @ 1400, took off around 1415, off 16/34.

It was a medical diversion for a passenger who suffered a stroke.

Great! This diversion will count towards YYC's passenger count!

YYC. Rising.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Hopefully more so if the rumoured BA route with 772 starts next year!

Last graph I saw, YYC was not far behind YUL/YMX in terms of pax....

.... isn't YMX closing to pax soon? Or is that just some rumour?

Correct. YMX handles only charter now....primarily TS. All this traffic will migrate to the YUL mega-plex in 2004 if memory serves & YMX will be cargo and Bombardier only, not that much cargo goes thru there.
