Old Northwest and current L.C. Smith terminals at DTW, right out of a 1960's dump.......McNamara (World Gateway) is stunning however.

MEM in my opinion is the armpit airport of the U.S.

Oh, GFK definetely fits in there. Bad for spotters...yes. Very boring (except for all the UND aircraft)...yes. Sometimes sickening weather...yes (high was 21 degrees today, probably 4 inches of snow of the ground).

But even more literally, it is next to crap. The city landfill just to the northwest of the airport. They've got several lagoons (not the tropical kind) for waste control. Really stinks the place up in the springtime when those things start to thaw out.

EWR was pretty bad until they cleaned it up this past decade...dreary and everything in the 1980s.

I've been to a few small airports in Montana that literally smell like crap  Smile

Other than that, I'd say LGA's United terminal and MIA's Northwest terminal are the worst traveling through.

I was in terminal 3 at MIA over the weekend, and there were just as many mice in the C7 boarding area as there were PAX waiting for our delayed flight. Terminal 3 at MIA is the pits!

I know your CRP line was a joke, but it gives me a chance to tout the airport. The entire facility is in the final stages of a total redsign, including the addtion of a decent concessions and dining area (which includes a Chili's), open terminal spaces, and gate waiting areas that could easily be in the most modern metropolitan airport. Its 100% better, but you are right, it is still CRP!!

Cheers

At MIA, there is one Terminal that AA uses that is very old. It may be T3. This place is a dump. It screams 1980s! The gate areas are small, the walkway is narrow, the decor is just plain old. Now, there was a certain terminal that I was very impressed with at MIA (once again I can't remember the ID.)

The old terminal is indeed C, which is what i mean to put in my previous post about MIA (not 3). The very impressive one was most likely A or B.

See you on the 757! 3E!

STL. STL. STL. STL.

Has nothing to do with the AA/TW fiasco. As an airport facility, Lambert (especially the main terminal, East isn't so bad) has its head stuck up its...runway. =) I feel bad for all the TW employees and it's too bad service has been cut so far down...but good goodness, that terminal is inconvenient, ugly, and inefficient at best.

Avion346 - LOL you nailed it - the damned BERRY TERMINAL at DTW!!!!

I just had inlaws immigrate to the US, and we got them buddy passeson British Airways out of Bombay - unfortunately the first view they had of America was that HIDEOUS terminal - parts of which are torn up INSIDE right now! I felt so sorry for them! I found myself repeatedly telling them "America is not ALL like this..."!

Old Terminal One ay YYZ. Ugh. For the views on the parking lot, that will be missed. Otherwise, I think the rats outnumber the staff. I will be SOOOOO happy when it's gone.

I'd say that the choice would have to be made between either London Heathrow (except T4), London Gatwick, Harare (the old international and domestic terminals) or Bulawayo...

I personally vote for Heathrow T1-3 (T4 is actually somewhat OK) - I constantly have to duck under signs hanging from the ceiling from fear that I'll bang my head into them if I don't...

Smile - it confuses people!

I'd have to say the current Concourse B where AirTran is located in HOU. They are currently building a new one, but the current one would be next to SHIT in the dictionary. It looks like itsh.

27 SwissINTLA340 : MEM too I was their about a mounth ago and it is like an 1960 high school or hospital. They need to refo that place soon.
28 JGPH1A : Leskova, I agree with you about LHR - what a dump ! They should blow it up and start again - so ugly and badly organised. I disagree about BUQ however

31 Lapper : Has to be Terminal 1 at CDG. That is like a 1960's car park with all that concrete on show!
32 Bungle : heraklion airport crete its a bit like an old gymnasium with no windows and one toilet.
33 United_Fan : Whatever terminal in MIA that UA uses, what a dump. Hardly any stores or food . Also UA's terminal @ LAX around gate # 69.
34 Contrails : Terminal 5 at LAX, prior to the recent upgrade. I thought it was a disgrace.
