Can you please tell me which companies were involved in the design and construction of the Concorde.
I get confused about companies which changed their names for example did SUD aviation become aerospatiale?

Sud Aviation and BAE come to mind....There's a couple more out there that I can't even think of off the top of my head- consortium after consortium (Aerospatle) and they became the pre-cursor to Airbus. And they had something on Discovery Wings about it not too long ago. I'm sure someone out there is a LOT more knowledgeable than myself. Cheers !

Ah, Summer, Fenway Park, Boston Red Sox and Beer.....

In 1960, British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) formed from merger of Bristol, English Electric, Hunting and Vickers.

Sud Aviation of France and BAC signed the Concorde Treaty on November 28, 1962.

BAC became part of a nationalized British Aerospace Corporation (BAe) in the 1977 merger of British Aircraft Corporation, Hawker Siddeley Aviation, Hawker Siddeley Dynamics and Scottish Aviation. BAe was privatized in 1981 and the government sold its majority stake in 1985. In November 1999, BAe merged with Marconi Electronic Systems, creating BAE Systems. BAE Systems is reportedly looking to merge with a North American firm, possibly Boeing.

Sud Aviation merged with Nord and SEREB in 1970, creating Aerospatiale. This company later merged with Matra Hautes Technologies in 1999, resulting in Aerospatiale Matra. According to its web site, EADS (European Aeronautics Defense and Space Company) was formed on 10 July 2000 in the union of DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG of Germany, Aerospatiale Matra of France, and CASA of Spain.

Somewhere there's a chart of world aviation consolidation. It's very interesting to see dozens of little lines representing independent companies slowly converging into Boeing, Lockheed, Northrop Grumman, EADS-Airbus, Bombardier, and (a new entrant) Embraer.

Just to clarify something.

SUD Aviation, BAC, BAe and all of these other small companies are currently what we know of as... Airbus Industrie (A.K.A. The European Consortium)
