WN 737s W/Winglets?

Recently a buddy of mine traveled on business to SAN. He said he saw two WN 737-700s parked side by side, with winglets.

Does WN taking delivery of, or currently operate an 737s with winglets?

I appreciate any info provided  Smile

The are equipping all of their 737-700's with them, as well as all new deliveries will have them pre-installed.

I thought you were pretty active on these forums, NWA742? Have you had your head in the ground or do you just spend all your time on non-av?  Big thumbs up

There are now 5 or 6 of the -700s that have had the winglet conversion. I was supposed to get a count for someone else the other day, and since it slipped my mind, I'll get it Monday and post it here.

Winglet-equipped -700s delivered from Boeing won't start coming until the fall of 2004. Everything else will be conversions of the 100+ -700s now in the fleet (and deliveries between now and fall 2004), at a rate of about 2 per week.

I know it's a lot but it would be nice to see the next few days schedule of each of these too. I thought I saw one flying into SDF the other day but really unsure about it. There was a WN employee who posted this before.

Thanks in advance,
John

All 5 are in the new Blue scheme...

Aircraft routings are customarily done 2-3 days in advance, and with all the variables involved with daily operations, are subject to change,,,

I saw my first one yesterday here in PHX. It looked really cool. Do you think it really helps with fuel economy of do they put them on there because they look cool???

I flew on one Saturday evening from LAS-SAN. Wn #1295
Captain announced that the wings were not bent, that it was a new state of the art wing tip that would conserve fuel, and would save not only money for WN to keep fares low, but will help to make the planet a better place by conserving our resources. The entire plane was fascinated by it.

Hmmm..so that's 11:55am(ET)-12:25pm. Damn, that sucks, right in the middle of the day. Worst sun angle. But if they are getting 2 per week, I'll get a good shot soon enough.

HEY! Never mind the winglet ones. Are their any special color schemes into TPA the next few days?
