New Swiss A340's - How Are They?

Hello everyone,

From what I've read so far, the new A340's are great. However, I'm curious about the following:

PTV's - I read in the trip reports that the systems seems to crash a lot. Has this been solved? Also, some people complain that they can't see anything due to the angle of the monitor when the seat in front of you is reclined. Is this true? Can't the monitor angle be adjusted?

Pitch - According to www.swiss.com the seat pitch is about 32-33 inches, which is slightly above industry average. In addition to this, the seats are supposedly thinner, giving you an extra inch or two. So, then the legroom must be pretty darn good, huh? Anybody have any first hand experiences in the new LX A340's???

Business/First class - anybody try these out yet?

three weeks ago I flew in on Swiss' brand new A 340-300, in Economy Class from Dubai to Zurich.

My PTV crashed one time during the whole flight, it was down for approximately 15 minutes but after the crash everything worked well until touch down. The PTV's in Economy provide a wide selection of movies (video on demand!), music channels, the flight tracker, a front camera view and a SMS and fax sending function, the remote controls are also usable as satellite telephones. The monitor angle can of course be adjusted, you can see everything very good, even when the passenger in front of you is reclining the seat.

The pitch was the best I ever experienced in an Economy Class, I am 1,90m tall but I could sleep in it. The PTV boxes under the seat are absolutely not disturbing, you have enough space.

When I saw pictures of the design of LX's new Eco, I thought it is looking horrible but I changed my opinion when I saw it in real, the pillows and blankets have a similar design and everything fits very well, simply a great cabin design.

The service was outstanding, the crew very friendly and the food delicious, simply a great product, long haul flights can be a pleasure in it.
