Which airlines will be withdrawing this type soon, and where will the aircraft go?

Is it true that KLM will no longer be flying theirs to YYZ? Sad

KLM has replaced the MD-11 with the 772 at YYZ, at least for the winter.

KLM & Finnair will continue to operate passenger MD-11's for several years. AZ & SW are progressively repalcing their fleets with the 772 and 343 respectively. The JAL fleet is being sold for cargo conversion to UPS.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Hello, yes its correct. KLM is no longer flying the MD11 into YYZ. They just replaced it with the new acquired 777. The PH-BQA and PH-BQB have both been to YYZ already... The fleet of KLM MD11 will fly to 2012. The idea was to withdrawn them from service very soon. But these planes have been changed... Groeten SPL

Many of the retired MD-11 are going to be converted to MD-11F standards. Lufthansa Cargo is about to make their entire fleet MD-11Fs, and Fed Ex and UPS are also picking up MD-11F conversions as well. Other than Varig, the only other airline picking up any MD-11s for pax use is World Airways, who had already picked up one ex-Delta MD-11, and is rumored to be picking up at least one of the three Delta has left that will be retired soon.

The MD-11 came at the wrong time where twin jets were beginning to reign supreme. DL ordered the MD11, but the aircraft was not living up to its standards. It is a great aircraft to fly on, but in terms of reliability and fuel efficiency, I've heard pilots tell me they'd rather fly a 707.

HB-IWM is intended to go to RG but is still parked at ZRH! HB-IWB and IWD already went to RG.

My airline, Swiss, is in the process of retiring its entire MD11 fleet. There are already 3 or 4 parked at the now closed terminal B, waiting for an airline to buy them.

Too bad, as the MD11 is my favorite a/c (at least from a f/a point of you).
