LOL. Don't forget the bitter sky-hags who serve you your hot meal errrr pretzels. I'm tired of paying $30,000 every time I fly AC. Long live Jetsgo and their apparatuses.

anyone interested in flying YYZ-YOW or YUL for a day and then renting a car and coming home??

Grant....I'd be up for that.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

I'm already flying YYZ-YUL on SG on December 4th ($1 fare), so if you can time it for that day I'll be game. I actually don't mind flying SG out of YYZ T3 since my KLM Platinum status allows me to use the KL lounge - which beats AC's MLL in T2 hands down! I can even take a guest into the lounge for a few brews if anyone is interested.

Grant, I'm wide open. Any day is fine. YOW is cool. We can pick any day until end of April, we just have to book by Nov 22nd.

I think you may have something here!

I wish you a "not properly affixed" JT8D-217/9 to fall in front of you as you are walking. So there...  Laugh out loud The problem is not the sky hags, the problem is the salary that makes them stay!

No matter how low you pay your staff, I still don't know how he makes money with $100 on average fares. The fuel and Airport fees alone.... can someone explain? Is he going to run dry eventually?

I understand it. He is generating new business with these loss-leader fares. People remember the cheap fares and are happy to return to Jetsgo again and pay their regular fares a 2nd or 3rd time since the deal was so good the 1st time. His costs are also very low, arguably the lowest of any Cdn airline with his large-ish MD-80's and cheap lease rates.

He doesn't. I've got a highly reliable source that says Michel is bleeding a daily operational loss of almost C$200k. Hence the desperate cash grabs to keep the cash float going.

So Sean, in your estimation, how long will this operation last? Is there any hope? If I were a commercial pilot right now, should I plop $30,000 to work for them? By the way, I'm not in that position at this time anyways.

Hmmm...that works out to C$6M a month, or about C$72M a year in losses. This seems excessive for such a small airline. I doubt Boeing Capital would lease them addl MD-80's with as poor financials as this.

I presume SG's annual revenue is about $200-300M based on their fleet size. A C$72M loss seems excessive.

I'm not saying I don't believe you Sean, but expanding it out as I did above, C$200k losses per day seems excessive to me.  Smile Maybe I'm missing something.

Neil.

Two simple words - FUCK NO! Not only do you have to shell out $30k, but you are potentially blacklisting yourself for life from any union carrier who consider pay-for-play just one step down from child molestation.

Hmmm...that works out to C$6M a month, or about C$72M a year in losses.

Thats only if you assume the $200k bleed has been ongoing for an entire year. I think he was referring more to Sept/Oct when he gave me these numbers. Obviously summer numbers should have been healthier.

I doubt Boeing Capital would lease them addl MD-80's with as poor financials as this.

At this point in time, BCC would lease Saddam an MD-80 if he asked nicely and came up with enough cash for the deposit. Its hardly like its a booming lease market out there. Beggars cant be choosers.

Then he might have a wise strategy to fill the aircraft in the slow seasons. Sometimes current cash flow is a more immediate goal than annual profit. In a high turnover business, cash is king.

Chuckle. I don't disagree.

I never said otherwise. Still doesn't change the fact that he's being parted from his money faster than a teenager in a stripclub. However, the double standard is glaringly obvious. If AC tried a sale like this, Clive Beddoe and Mike TheWhite would be crying foul faster than Robert Milton can name another subsidiary.

Back to the real issue at hand....i think that if how ever many seats are available, those people will be entitled to those jetsgo airmiles...smilemiles or something like that....that could be a drive to come back to the airline, give a little to get a little...

If i have a good experience on Jetsgo to SFB on Dec 24th....i am sure i will fly them again... mostly baised on principal...the only thing i have found wrong with AC has been the prices...

Saying that....as far as "OUR FLIGHT" Christmas time is out for this kid, may have to be in the new year? or before? Imagine the camera work onboard....Cessna pimp, Kaz, myself...we could go camera crazy!!

That teenager was me!
Anyway, I think I'll still have a few bucks left to spring for this lil venture... Providing we have a normal group of enthusiasts (emphasis on normal).
I got dibs on shot-gun for the drive back!

Where you guys planning on going? Montreal or Ottawa? I may join you somewhere, depending on if I am in Toronto (parents' new city), Montreal (school city) or Ottawa (hometown but now houseless city).

Looks like they're not stupid enough to offer the sale the same time the Sunday free-for-all happens.

It will be a visitable facility. Long needed as the Viscount, C-47 and Argus are advanced state of weathering.
