earlier this week Boeing posted a profit of $63 million while according to British Aerospace Airbus LOST $200 million. the spokesman for British aerospace blame the Airbus losses on Boeings continual lowering of the price of 737 derivatives.

This is what happens when you buy in bulk. Also it should be noted that as a general rule the cost of labor at Airbus is higher then Boeing because of the stronger unions

According to the Los Angeles Times, both companies lost money for the fisical year 98. Where in the world do you get your sources.

How can boeing get a profit if they lost millions of dollars on the 3rd quarter due to parts shortage, and many cancellations.

Boy you guys arent reading the right articles.

With this post, I've no doubt that you are an ANTI-Airbus.
If Airbus losses makes you happy, it's clear that you don't like aviation, you only like Boeing and the 747. This forum isn't about Boeing, it's about general aviation.
In conclusion, you don't have enough impartiality to deserve a good discussion with you, it's useless.

I know I'm being rude, but I'm tired of fanatics.

I am pretty sure that Boeing did post a profit this year. Sorry about your company though.

I'm sorry I thought that we where all fanatics here. I know I am one about airplanes and a certain Lockheed built type in particular.

I don't think that anybody here wants to kill off particular type of airplane but they do like to see their favorite maker do well.

Let's face it what sane human would actually schedual their flights to see how many different types they can fly on? What sane person would stand for hours on a ladder outside some fence with a camera. What normal person would shoot off two bricks of 72 exposure film at Reno(I did that). What member of the general public would actually look for a job at a airport dealing with upset passengers,m rain, wind, sleet, hail, The occasional escaped dog, heavy boxes and noise just so they could be around airplanes? We're not normal, we freaks of nature. We are airplane junkies. We love the smell of Jet-A in the Morning!(My apologies to Robert Duvall). We can chat for hours about the best layer of paint on aluminum.

Let's face it if we weren't fanatics we wouldn't be on this site.

L-188, I agree with you that we're all freaks, he he. My friends, sometimes call me a freak.
I just would like that people here could accept the others opinions and just not post things like "the 7x7 is the best plane in the world because it is."
Remember this: When we change our opinions it's a signal of growing and developing ourselfs.
I can accept that everyone has a favourite plane, no problem with this, I also prefer the 747, it's a magestic plane.
But I don't accept that people here call to other planes "crap" without a valid reason for that, or that the others misery makes them happy (sad, sad).
I've done also some weird things because of planes, I've wake up at 07h00 am during my holidays just to go to FAO airport and shoot a Heavy Lift Shorts Belfast, I spend all the morning at the airport without eating, but the plane didn't come as it was cancelled. I've ride 800Km (500mi)in one day, just to see fighter planes.

I'm also a freak and I'm only sorry that my english is not very good to explain my ideas. Sometimes, I just don't reply because I'm not sure of the grammar.

Good points.

I do reserve the right to refer to the Dimond DA-20 Katana as C--- but other then that....

This kind of ties in with the topic above about bad info being put out.

Dear Mirage,

I have never in this forum called any aircrat "crap" to my recollection. I pretty much like all airplanes but the 747 is my favorite. I know a lot about all of the types whether they be Boeing, Airbuses, Cessnas, Pipers, McDonell Douglas's or Diamonds. The 747 is the focus of my interest but I will talk about anything. But, I am not going to post questions or topics on aircraft or airlines that don't interest me.

CX, I didn't mean it was you who used the crap name, but, by the way you talk about the 747 comparing with similar planes, it seems the other planes are always loosers.
I understand if we don't agree in something, that's how a forum works. I guess, in the future this will happen again.
Anyway, sorry for anything.

I know that I seem a little of zealous sometimes and do continually push Boeing and their 747. I am not always pro Boeing though. I think the A340 is a good design due to its 4 engines (Which I feel is better than a twin). The 777 has lost orders due to it being a twin and seems to already met its design limitations due to the fact that Boeing can't get orders for the 777-100X and 777-300X. I ask a lot of questions about the 747 because it is my FAVORITE plane. I want to see it do well. In the future I will try to tone down my posts. I have not though called other aircraft crap of stated that the 7X7 is better just because. I always try to prove my philosophies through research and real data.
