AF serves 41 cities domestically and 198 in total in 83 countries.
on March 31st 2003, its fleet had 360 planes operating 1800 flights a day.
Air France was officially created during the year of 1933.
the decision to regroup many different airlines under the name of Air France had already been taken on April 14 th of that year, but the legal date is August 17th and the official ceremony (the one we remember as the date of its creation) is October 7th 1933.
It was born from the merge of the following airlines (and the dates of their set up): Compagnie Générale Transaérienne 1909/ Lignes Latécoère 1918/ Aéronavale 1919/ Messageries Aériennes 1919/ Les Grands Express Aériens 1919/ Les Lignes Farman 1919/ La Compagnie Franco-Roumaine de Navigation Aérienne 1920/ Air Union 1923/ Air Afrique 1926/ L'Aéropostale 1927 and Air Orient 1930. In 1933 it operated 259 planes of 32 different kinds including 219 terrestrial planes, 35 hydroplanes and 5 operating on both the ground and water.
Air France then had different branches including Air Bleu 1935/ Aéromaritime 1935/ Air France Transatlantique 1937 before the War.
During WWII: Service Civil de Liaisons Aériennes and the Postale de Nuit.
In 1946, Air France is recreated under its original name and becomes the State Flag Carrier in 1948.
The Air France group once again merges with Air Inter 1954 and UTA 1962(Union des Transports Aériens) in 1990 and 1992.
Then came Air France KLM and its privatisation.
Hope this helps...
