For the benefit of everyone, I am starting this thread for all followers of CWL to post their thoughts and any rumours.
So far we have had Continental 3 x Daily 777 to EWR and UA Daily 744 to ORD.
AA will start 2 x Daily JFK with 767 and Air New Zealand will start a daily 744 flight to AA), New Zealand">AKL to cater for the vast sheep market between the two countries

Any more?  Laugh out loud

Hey,

I heard Air BP is to base about 20 vehicles at CWL.

I also heard that the British Parliament will vote a new law today stating that all flights landing at LHR have to continue on to CWL.

LMAO! Superb. And I now live in North Wales. 0 Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Don't forget that thrice-weekly SIA 744 service, plus AC's daily 333 YYZ flight. And this is ignoring the fact that AA wishes to commence a DFW service!

To bring up another often discussed topic into this....

"Don't forget that thrice-weekly SIA 744 service, plus AC's daily 333 YYZ flight."

Why not YUL instead of YYZ?

Hell - why not YYZ, YUL, YVR, Calgary, Halifax, Edmonton... Yellowknife? All daily using the 333, with the exception of Yellowknife which will be twice-daily.

I heard that the T5 plan at LHR is so unpopular and so expensive that the Government has decided instead to extend the Heathrow Express and Picadilly tube lines to CWL, so that CWL will become LHR T5. That way LHR can get new runways (after all, who cares if they concrete over vast areas of Cardiff right ? It can only be an improvement), T5 gets built for GBP0.00, BAA makes millions (always a good thing) and the Government gets runway expansion in the South East (Glamorgan will be nominated as an honorary Home County).

It means that the airside terminal transfer will take 4 hours, which will have a small impact on passengers connecting between T1-4 and T5, but since transfer time T1,2,3 - T4 is about 3 hours now anyway, its only marginally worse.

Airlines that will fly to CWL will also get more slots at LHR, so JAL is adding CWL to it's fleet network. Operated by a 737-400 via ICN, URC, ALA, SVO and HEL.

Re the JNB flights - SA will introduce double daily 343 flights CWL-UTN-JNB (Upington stop for Sheep Fanciers Inclusive Tours) - but because the range and performance of the 343 are so lamentable (they only bought them because Airbus bribed them) causing the aircraft to have trouble climbing over Mt Snowdon with a full load, the flights will be refueled in flight by SAAF 707 tankers based at Ilha do Sal.

Guys, the gates will be crowded at CWL, because Luxair plans to open up a second hub at CWL. This is in response to huge demand from the South Wales region for its Tupolev TU-144 supersonic flights to Kansas City (USA), Maputo (Mozambique), Lukla (Nepal) and St. Barth (French West Indies). The St. Barth service will stop over in Milton Keynes.

Furthermore, to recognise its traditional links to Wales' sheep farmer community, Luxair will equip all its A380 - that ply the CWL-Penzance feeder route - with grazing areas on the lower deck of its aircraft. This will allow Welsh sheep farmers to bring their own sheep and keep them productive throughout their journeys. Forms to apply for EU subsidies will be available from the cabin crew.

As real estate is getting scarce around CWL, Luxair is planning to house its new super-terminal in two newly constructed gigantic towers (about 2.5 times higher than the Petronas Towers in KUL), where planes will be stacked one on top of each other. A high performance elevator systems lifts planes to their parking levels, passengers access their gates by courtesy helicopters. This will allow Luxair to envisage sustained growth in concert with its alliance partners Air Zaire, Bouraq of Indonesia, TWA, and Kamchatka airlines, which together form "Moon Team", the world's biggest airline alliance, which is headquartered at CWL.

In a separate move, Lufthansa has announced that they will construct the world's largest IMAX cinema at CWL, as a response to frequent complaints that its planes do not offer PTVs in economy. Access to the IMAX theatre - which will be built adjacent to Terminal 183 North/Block A/Concourse Romeo/Level 78 and will seat about the entire population of London - will be strictly limited to Economy class passengers.

EXCELLENT thread!!!

(  Laugh out loud Mozart - nice one !)

Rumour has it that the best spotting area for the new Moon Team superhub will be on top of Terminal 183 North/Block A/Concourse Romeo/Level 78. As it is 7500 feet above sea level, you will have an excellent view of the 18 sets of parallel interconnecting runways, the 35,000 acre hard stand and the bigger-than-Greater-London BA maintenance work shops. The WAA (Welsh Airport Authority / Pobolycymllanelli Awrpwrt Cymru) will provide pay-as-you-go binoculars, notebook rental and an on-site anorak/bobble hat repair shop.

Due to the huge undercapacity on the CWL-USA routes, Air India will be diverting all India-LHR-JFK and India-LHR-ORD flights to serve CWL instead of LHR.

The routes to South Africa expected to be launched by Aer Lingus have been announced, though in a surprise move the routes will be operated from CWL! There will be a daily CWL-JNB flight and a thrice weekly DUB-CWL-CPT flight. These new services will be operated with a new fleet of A340-500s in a 200 seat all business class configuration. At last Aer Lingus have realised where they can make some real money!
