Anyone know anything about this carrier, Trans Atlantic Airlines? The article says that an IAH/Banjul service starts next month. Supposedly service from JFK and IAD started last month. This really came out of nowhere.

They are real. They are flying from Dulles, JFK, and Houston to various African cities. From the top of my head, those include Lagos, Port Harocourt, Banjul, Freetown, and Dakar. They are leasing a 747 (I think a -200), an A330, and a 737-300 that will be used intra-Africa.

I believe they are using an Air Luxor A-330. Their offices aren't too far from mine in downtown New York. I read somewhere that they are principally backed by a Nigerian businessman with real estate interests in NY.
