I've managed to see a Pan Am 727 on approach to MHT a few times. I must
admit it's kinda cool to see the "wingleted" plane as it turns final..this morning
I saw it as it appeared from clouds as it turned..nice sight to see.

Hope they have better luck departing than in '82(?).

SprxflySWA,

Pan Am 759 went down in July,1982 operated by 727-200 "Clipper Defiance" on a MIA-MSY-LAS route. Windshear caused the flight to go down. Nothing to make light of, over 140 people lost their lives that day.

Steve,

I'll get some ramp shots for you. If you're off duty, and want to ride out there, call me on my cell phone.

I remembered that crash, what direction was it taking off toward the east or north that day?

On a different subject I will be flying into MSY this (again).

Taking off to the east (runway 10), encountered wind shear, lost airspeed and altitude, impacted ground just east of Williams Boulevard.

That's one of the first memories I have... still a toddler, but remember my parents rushing out there, and how sad everyone was.

Don't be fooled by the name. It's just a low-budget airline flying smoky old 727s around to destinations nobody else wants. PA3 is correct, I beleive.

I'd be nice to get a bold CEO in charge of that airline, along with some real investors. I'd love to see Pan Am start expanding and become a real carrier again.

The fact that some people don't know an airline with the name Pan Am is still flying is a goes to show that they haven't done much for themselves since starting.

Here is a sentimental shot of one of the smoky old 727s on final into MIA this past Sunday. Quite ironic how rare this sight is at MIA, as it taxied over to Signature FBO on the north side of the field, close to the spot where the original Pan Am started out at MIA decades ago.
