I have always felt (even in the time that I lved in Atlanta and commuted to FLL) like i am treated like a tourist when I go to and from FLL/MIA, espically during travel and cruise season. I know this is odd, but I have always felt like it. Maybe it is just because almost everyone else IS a tourist. Anyone else who lives in touristy areas feel the same?

Yeah I live near quite a few touristy areas, such as Windsor (Windsor castle), every time I go there I bump in to tourists and then I end up feeling like one, same with London, usually because I am the lost 1 .

lol trying to get down the Strip in a car- it honestly cant be done by anyone living in LAS. Or you fly in and everyone else is drinking on the plane and planning what and how they are going to gamble or the plane just about tilts when everyone is trying to see the city lights- as someone who has lived there and goes back to see parents sometimes its amusing to see the interest- especially when your seat mates or the F/As question you about why you dont seem to be as enthralled. Its really fun on a LAX-LAS run when there tend to be more foreigners and sometimes they are shocked that people actually LIVE in Vegas.
In London I have to fight through em with a stick- and sometimes I help the obviously totally lost Americans (white shoes, technical jackets, purses slung in the defense position) who are on the Tube and mispronouncing names or are on the wrong end of town for where they are trying to go- they seem shocked that another American who isnt wearing any of the above would actually know what was going on! Or if i am asking a station manager or someone for directions the talk to me like im a complete idiot just because of the American accent.

I live in Santiago and when I go to Viña del Mar, a large seaside city that is Chile's tourism capital, I always feel shocked for a few seconds when I realize that there are people living, working and studying in that city. And then I realize that during summer, Viña's population is doubled by people from Santiago spending summer over there.
