World Travel Market shows growing interest in Cardiff International Airport
More routes, more facilities, and more recognition have put Cardiff on the international radar screen.
Managers at Cardiff International Airport had their busiest-ever time at the latest World Travel Market, the global showcase of the travel industry, staged at London’s Excel Centre.
Twelve months of rapid growth, new route announcements, and new terminal facilities have transformed the profile of Cardiff International Airport among airlines and tour operators, according to the Airport’s Sales & Marketing Manager, Vincent Rey.
“We have never had so many people from airlines and tour-operators, both UK and overseas, wanting to get more information about the airport.
“Their awareness of Cardiff International had rocketed in the past year, following so many news developments – including the arrival of Bmibaby, the launch of new routes by Air Wales, the accolade of being voted best UK airport by Daily Telegraph readers, and the remodelling of our check-in, lounge, and catering facilities”, said Mr Rey.
“Even the choice of Cardiff International for one of the last official flights by Concorde – and the earlier unplanned diversion of a New York Concorde to Cardiff – had also boosted world-wide interest in the airport”, he added.
“Having become the UK’s fastest growing regional airport earlier this year, we shall have increased our range of scheduled destinations to 20 when the new Air Wales services to Brussels begin flying in January”, said Mr Rey.
“All of these factors have made Cardiff far more prominent on the international travel industry’s radar screen”, he added.
“And this was the first occasion when we were able to step out of our office and board an Air Wales flight to London City Airport – almost next door to the Excel Centre in London’s Dockland!”, Mr Rey observed.
What is this piece of news trying to say.... EXPANSION?
I hope so..
Maybe a CWL-Newark service or even a major airline setting up at CWL..
