I dont think this question has been posed yet but what effect, if any, will a grouping consisting of Air France/KLM/Northwest/Delta and Continental have on the US competition authorities in terms of the AA/BA alliance??? What percentage of traffic will this grouping hold at Paris and Amsterdam compared to BA/AA at Heathrow??? Could BA and AA use this as leverage in with the competition authorities in the US???

This can't be compared.
LHR: is a closed market. "Open skies" only for AA, UA, BA, VS and no slots available, CO, DL, NW... are not allowed to operate there.
CDG: no restrictions, anyone can fly there, slots somehow available, market is less important than LHR.
So if merger BA/AA would be completed it would be a completely different story.
