Passenger Number @ Tel Aviv Airport

Does anyone here know the passenger numbers of Tel Aviv Airport during 2002?

Since they are not a part of the Airports Council International (ACI), they are not shown on their website. I am sure they are not in the top 100 airports.

I know that in 2001 they handled around 9 million but then that was followed by a 20% drop due to the ongoing trouble between them and Palestine. According to their website they will only extend their new Terminal 3 'when passenger numbers exceed 7.5 million'. So how low is it?

Terminal 3 "aka Ben Gurion 2000"

will open when construction is finished (hopefully by the end of 2004)
at the moment it has nothing to do with pax numbers.

cockpit? it's that little room in the front of the plane where the pilots seat.. but that's not important now

Yes, but only only 60% of T3 will open, the remaining two concourses will only be built once traffic rises beyond a certain point.

The peak year was 2000. The Pope visited Israel and many came with him.
There were 9,301,607 passengers in 2000.
On Sep 2000 the Intifada began and the numbers started to drop.
In 2001 there were 7,878,306 passengers and in 2002 (the worse year) there were only 6,853,104 passengers.
2003 suppose to be a better year.

The numbers are from TLV web site. You can find it here: http://www.ben-gurion-airport.co.il/english/index.htm

Unfortunately the English section of the web site has much less statistic information than the Hebrew section.

You can try to understand some numbers from the Hebrew section (it’s not too difficult). The first table is at http://www.ben-gurion-airport.co.il/hebrew/report/report1.htm

At the bottom of each page, click on the Blue aircraft to jump to the next table.

As other said, the decision about T3 opening date has nothing to do with pax number.

Long live the B747
