I was just wondering if everyone could give me an Idea what the US Air A321 flight experience is like. I'm flight out of MCO next month to PIT then on to PWM. The first leg is in an A321 just wanted to know what I have to look forward to. Also is it US Air or United that has live ATC?? Thanks for the help.

Hi there
Flew on the A321 a few weeks ago, so I'll tell you what I can.
There is no live ATC, but the audio selection was good on my short 50 minute flight. I think that MCO-PIT is too short for a real movie, but they might show some sitcoms or a map.
The A321 is a great plane though- very comfortable, with powerports for laptops in every seat.

United is the one that has Ch9.. live ATC.. if the pilot wants you to hear it.
Caution wake turbulence, you are following a heavy jet.

You can forget any form of movie/video entertainment on MCO-PIT...not gonna happen with US...

You will see a short video on US A321s on shorter domestic runs e.g. CLT to Florida - after the safety video is shown (on the ground, of course), they turn the monitors back on right after takeoff and show COMMERCIALS for various USAirways products (e.g. the frequent-flyer program, Caribbean vacation packages etc.). The sound is played over the PA so you can't ignore the intrusion. Very tacky, I thought.
Of course UA (my particular frame of reference) plays tons of commercials on its shorter domestic flights in between "Friends" and the other NBC-based programming, but you can ignore it if you don't want to listen with your headset.
USAirways is definitely a notch or two below United in this respect.

I think the video advertising US Airwasy services is much better than the parade of F/A's down the aisle yelling and waving brochures and application forms for MileagePlan that they do on Alaska.

Well according to Seatguru, the A321 has a 38" pitch and 21" width in First, a 32" pitch and 17" width in Coach. Drop-downn LCDs showm movies on 3 hour+ flights, TV shows on shorter flights. It had 9 channel audio but due to cost cutting they now only have the video soundtrack. Every seat has EmPower. In First, avoid rows 1 and 2. In coach, avoid 8DE, 19ABC and rows 20 and 32.
9ABCF and row 21 are the best seats in Coach.

The US Airways A321's don't offer alot like everyone else has said entertainment wise, but they sure are a great ride! Definately one of the most comfortable jets i've ever been on!
