I just heard from somebody that song is using the older 757s from delta's main fleet, but I remember hearing that song was going to use 36 of delta's newest 757s. Which one is it the new or the old, you tell me.

They are using both older and new aircraft. I know about 31 Song aircraft so far (according to a.net picture database), the average fleet age is around five years. Most of them are the ones with four numbers in the registration (such as N6700) which are still quite new. Their oldest aircraft is an 1988 model.

IIRC, those jets with the "N1234Z" tail numbers (4 letters) are leased jets? I see them on alot of 738's...I think Delta did it for newer jets, and because it looks less like the Delta name...as opposed to having, say, a N632DL...speaks of its glorious owner
Correct me if I'm wrong, this is only the stuff I heard in the cockpit.

Only three Song aircraft are leased,636,645,and 684. The rest are owned by DL. Most of the fleet are DL's newest 757. There is no offical word about expanding the Song fleet yet. 36 aircraft have been painted and no more are being done. Right now they are begining the IFE installations. I don't know if the reg numbers were changed. I never paid much attention to those numbers before the mod. I think they were delivered with those 'Z' and 'Q' numbers. A lot of the more recent deliveries don't have DL, or DE even though they are not leased.

I have spotted much of the Song fleet in both Delta and Song liveries, and I can attest that no registrations were being changed over. In the case of the 757s, its most likely because they had filled up the 6XX series, and same with the -800s and the 3XX series (the -200s are the bottom part of the 3XX series, -800s start at 370)
