I heard that PIA is going to Wet lease A310-300's from Airbus for a period of 10 years and they have an option of buying them at the end. Anyone have an news on when Airbus is going to give them to PIA and what route they are going to use the A310-300's on? Thanks

It must be dry lease rather than wet lease. I read it a few month's ago and as far as I remember, they were supposed come from early 2004.

Hello OD720, Right now i am trying to find more info on that, and i found some. I found this information from http://geocities.com/fly_pia/news and http://www.geocities.com/fly_pia/fleet

"Wet lease from Airbus for a period of 10 years with an option to purchase, at end of agreement. First 4 a/c are to join the fleet in Nov 04."

"Recently PIA signed a lease agreement for six Airbus A310-300 aircraft from Airbus for a period of 10 years. The aircraft are P&W engine powered with former operators being Air Jamaica and Aeroflot. The first three will join sometime in Nov-Dec 03. Further details are to follow."

Does anyone know how old those A310-300's are?

I think PIA is going to use them on Hajj flights. Last time PIA used 3x Boeing 747-200/300 and 3x A300-B4 for the hajj flights. I think that they are going to buy these A310-300's because they are selling some of their old A300, i think they are selling 8 of the A300, i am not sure. As a part of re-newing their fleet they are going to be retiring two 747-200s, eight A300s and eleven F-27s in 2003; two 747 combis in 2006; three 747-300s in 2008; and seven 737-300s in 2010 and 2011. So they would need these A310's.
