I will be flying Azteca MEX-CUN next sunday. My flight gets there at 2 p.m. and my return flihght to MEX leaves at 3:40. Are there any interesting airplanes there at that time of day? Maybe some european flights...?

Are there separate terminals for domestic and international flights or is it just one terminal with different areas? Any tips on plane spotting there? Is boarding usually done through jetways or via shuttle bus/walking in the tarmac? How crowded should it be?

The terminal area is not real conducive to wathching. Not a lot of windows, and not a lot of view area. Very tight enclosed gates.

Hola Jose:
The only schedule interesting flight that I could find is:
LTU 417 to DL), Germany">DUS departs CUN at 14:40, a/c is a A330-200.
But maybe you will see some of the charters and schedules airlines into CUN: Air 2000(767), Martinair(767), Monarch(A330), My Travel(A330), Condor(767) Iberia(A319), Lan Chile(767), Air Canda (319, sometimes A330), AA, DL, CO, AS, etc.

Saludos.

Gracias, Pablo.

Do you have any idea if it's all just one terminal for both domestic and int'l flights?

Next Sun? That is Dec. 7th? I'll be coming back to CUN after the Avioncitos meeting in MEX. I'll be landing in CUN at 11:00 and up to now I don't have anything else to do. We can go to the FBO and might do a couple of touch and goes. Will you be attending the meeting at Aeromar's terminal next Saturday? If so we can talk and set everything up for then.

Anyways.... CUN has two terminals. Terminal 1 is mostly used for charter flights although Frontier and Air Transat regular flights depart out of there. Terminal 2 (the improved, larger building) is used for both domestic, international scheduled and charter services. Terminal 2 has a great spotting place once inside the gate in between the domestic and international buildings. Only one single runway, so there's no chance to miss the interesting traffic on a busy Sun noon.

Saludos.

90 mins are not enough in cancun. You need probably a few days. I say make a very long stopover and enjoy the beaches and hunnies.

I wonder if on one of those 5 day cruises you could get out fo the airport for the day it docks in cancun and go to the airport to see that Yak42, likely the only ones of the type operating on the western hemisphere  Big grin
