Kinshasa - A Soviet-made aircraft has crashed in central Congo, killing all 22 people on board, a Congo government spokesperson has announced.
The crash happened just after takeoff at the city of Boende, 800km north-east of the capital, Kinshasa.
The plane was an Antonov 26.
Hamadoun Toure, a UN spokesperson, said the plane was not one of those belonging to Congo's UN's military mission, which is overseeing cease-fires and peace deals in the central African nation after a five-year war.
A fact-finding team would go to the area on Sunday to try to determine circumstances of the crash.
The Boende airstrip had no air-traffic control, said Georges Kikuni, a national aviation official in Kinshasa.
The crash comes a few days after a boat collision on a west Congo lake killed more than 180 people, and left scores missing.
