heard this on the old discovery channel today...

You are 3 times more likely to be kicked to death by a donkey than you are to die in a commercial airplane crash.

And you're 5 times more likely to fall down 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 flights of stairs, than you are to die in a commercial airplane crash!

My posts/replies are strictly my opinion and not that of any company, organization, or Southwest Airlines.

"You would have to fly a flight every day for over 5,000 years to be assured statistically of being in a fatal accident..."

I believe the guy's name was David Henson of the FAA..

 Big thumbs up

Caution wake turbulence, you are following a heavy jet.

Proving once again that these "statistics" don't mean much. I fly a lot, but will likely go my whole life without ever seeing a donkey. About as useful as telling me how likely I am to die in a skydiving accident!  Smile

Avt007... thats the hole point. even if you are probably not ever gunna see too many, you still have more chances of being kicked to death by one than you are to die in a plane crash eh...

I dunno about that- I fly with some pretty questionable characters. I suspect that statistic doesn't apply to Africa................

Donkeys are more common here in that states than you might suppose. Most of the time they are used in petting zoos, or as exotic pets. They are a great attraction at carnivals and outdoor parties, and are also used for Christmas pageants and live nativities. One yearly sport held in many places, including my home town, is "donkey basketball". Yes, that is right. Take two teams of five people on donkeys into a gym and play basketball. If your donkey uses the floor as a "lavatory" - you have to clean it up. You can thank us Christians and our church schools for this silly little sport. I can scan in some pictures and upload them if you don't believe me......

In some parts of the world, donkeys are still widely used as transportation. If the reports are right - donkey carts are so common in Iraq that terrorists will plant bombs in them because nobody pays any attention to an ordinary old donkey cart....

I've been kicked by a donkey 3 times in the past 20 years. Does this mean I should never fly again? Just for this post he'll probably whomp me again tomorrow.

Damn, this website is getting worse daily.
