Hi all,

I've got a question about seats on the B737 and A32S.

What everybody says:
x Airbus A32S seats are very spacy and roomy in Y-class
x Boeing B737 seats tend to be quite cramped

My experience being 6'5'':
x Airbus A319 of BA: seats in the back are very cramped (my knees hurted after a 50 minuts flight)
x Boeing B737-200 of Ryanair with 29'' seat pitch: much more comfortable in terms of seat pitch

Does anybody know how this is possible? Because I wanted to double-check this, I tested the SN A319 a few months ago:

x the seats that can be converted to C-class are very spacy
x once you have passed the wing, they are extremely cramped (I wouldn't be able to fly 4 hours in them)

I also tested an AF A320 a few months ago (did not fly on it, only tested the seats), and this one gave me the same expression.

I remember a flight on a VEX B733 in 2002 where I also had a lot of legspace. Also on the BA B752 where everybody complains about legspace, I had comfortable flights.

Can anybody give me some more explanations about B737 + A32S and seats?

well try sitting overwing emergency exit rows, on both planes the best planes. im 2m and have np with them.

Yes - it's a rather simple explanation.

Not all airlines buy the same type of seats for their planes.

Still than, why I am very cramped in Airbus and comfortable in Boeing while most claim the opposite?

Even with different seats, there must be an important difference in seat pitch between the first rows of Y and the ones more to the back of the plane.

Anybody with more information please?

TG992 hit the nail right on the head...although it should be pointed out that narrowbody Airbuses are 7 inches wider than narrowbody Boeings which would probably translate to a slightly wider seat generally among most Airbuses...

BA's Y seats at the rear of the aircraft are 31" pitch whilst the convertable seats towards the front are 34" pitch because they're sometimes used as C class seats.

That's true manairport, but BA B752's + B763's are also at 31-32 inch and I was confortable in those aircrafts. Just like I was confortable in the FR B732 with 29 inch.

It depends on how each airline arranges its seats in the airplane.

For example, a 733 with 8 in F/C and 112 in Y, would be right spacious. That same airplane with 12 in F/C and 124 in Y, would be seriously cramped.

Maybe the seat back full sfull of thgose crappy magazines etc etc and this impacted on your leg room? they can take a good inch into your knees.

I have been down the back in a BA A320, and haven't noticed the difference to be honest.
