Wow...Pan Am made a charter trip up to Grand Forks. I think the last time PanAm was in Grand Forks was when President Regan made a trip up there. A PA 707 brought in the reporters...and (if memory serves me correctly) it was Northwest that flew them out of GFK.

Aviation is proof that, given the will, we have the capacity to achieve the impossible.

The GFK weather has been pretty bad lately. We got the AA here a few weeks ago. I was spending time with the GF this weekend, so I missed these planes. A few guys from our spotters group made it on the ramp to see these planes. I do not have the pictures from them up yet, but they are in the queue here and look great. Check my page tomorrow and I should have them up. Aviation Photographers & Enthusiasts (APE)

I was one of the lucky ones to catch Pan Am. Wow, more amazing than I thought. It was like stepping back into the Golden Age of aviation. Plus it was the B727 with winglets! Pictures are in the queue right now and hopefully I'll have something to show in a couple days.

Thanks to Grand Forks Airport Operations for letting us go out of the ramp while Pan Am (and previous diversions) were in town. GFK is pretty boring so we really capitalize on our diversions.

Here's some of this year's diverion highlights, captured by APE photographers:

Just got home and was glad to see you got them Tim - any idea why there were in town and both going to Alabama?

The Miami Air brought the Northern Alabama football team in on Friday to play the Sioux. Saturday morning, the PanAm brought the cheer team for Northern Alabama along. Both left Saturday evening. Pictures still coming to A.P.E. soon.

As promised, here's the Pan Am B727 in Grand Forks. I still can't believe it was here, in Grand Forks. It was so beautiful, even with cloudy skies.
