Last PA flight was 1983 (OK - I'm old!) SIN/HKG/SFO. First PA trip was 1963 (I guess even older!) SFO/HNL/SFO. Even flew them around the world - SFO - South Pacific - Australia - Asia - India - Middle East - Europe - SFO. Great airline if you were in First. Coach could be a nightmare. Still in all, there was nothing like seeing that big blue ball on the tail and the US flag in the depths of some third world country. It's too bad they're gone. The way of bad management (endemic on US carriers) and union greed. How do some of these "leaders" get where they are? It's pervasive in many companies. I guess this is called progress........

1981, LHR-JFK. Service on Pan Am was just OK, nothing great. Who remembers the "Chicken Maryland" here?

July 1988
Milan, Malpensa to New York/JFK
747
New York/JFK to Los Angeles
747
It would be great of I could remember much more of it. My mother was rather livid that the Pan Am flight had been delayed due to a strike that the Control Tower ran for 3 hours, causing a delayed and very close connection at JFK!
The flight MXP-JFK was packed to the brim...easily 90% Italian and 10% anything else!
