The Weirdest Route with Cabo Verde Airlines

Cabo Verde Airlines Will inaugurate service from Ilha do Sal to Bologna on 28Dec03.
The weekly flight will operate on Sundays with a B737-300 making a stopover at Las Palmas.

Why Bologna and not Milan or Rome for example?  Insane

If I'm not mistaken, this is a route formerly flown by Volare Air. The idea is to bring holiday makers to the islands. No doubt it was a marketing decision rather than a political decision.
