As a user of ORF I was wondering if UAL will ever return. They pulled out of here a couple of years ago and it is just United Express here now. No other airline did this. Why did they?

So United is now codesharing on US flights out or Norfolk?

Oh, yeah. US and UA are codesharing when at all possible. It's doubtful that you'll see UA mainline flights in ORF anytime soon.

I remember when United mainline was cut from ORF. I believe it was at the same time that BNA and JAX were stripped of mainline service. Sadly, UAL mainline probably won't be making a return to Norfolk anytime soon for the aforementioned reasons, though it would be nice to see something larger than a CRJ-200 between ORF and ORD. Maybe if/when Mesa brings CRJ-700s into ORD when ACA's operations in ORD are dissolved, they'll put some of them on the ORD-ORF route.

As a side note, I flew the ORF-ORD route a few weeks after it had been downgraded to all CRJ aircraft. I found the flight to be quite pleasant, but that's about the longest I'd feel comfortable in a 50-seat RJ.

If UA had flown mainline into ORF I would have switched over to them in heartbeat when DL announced their changes to their Medallion program.

Possibly a better thread would be "Will UAL Ever Return To Profit?"

Pardon the irreverance.
