So, not content with ripping me off with a £510 fare for a day trip return from BHX to BSL, Swiss then slap me with a further £25 charge for a paper ticket issued TOD at BHX. £25 for a paper ticket - come on, that's insane, there's no way it costs that much to issue a paper ticket!
But that's not all. I don't WANT a paper ticket - I'd have been more than happy with an e-ticket. But Swiss haven't got the system in place at BHX to support e-tickets, so I can't have an e-ticket. But that's hardly my fault as I'm not responsible for implementing e-ticketing systems for Swiss at BHX. And yet even though I can't have an e-ticket they still rip me another £25 for a paper ticket. Hmmm!!! we can't issue an e-ticket but you still have to pay for a paper ticket - talk about a licence to print money. And not content with all that, they charge me for coffee on the flight too.
There is no wonder that airline is going down the pan - they deserve all they get.

I have a friend who got moved onto another flight from Athens to Zurich with Swiss but when he turned up on the day, they wanted 25 GBP from him. He paid it, but his travel agents complained and he got the money back.

That is an awful policy to have. If you do not have the e-ticket possible in that airport, then do not penalize those people because you do not have the technology in place to serve them in the way YOU want. You Swiss should be glad they chose to fly you and this is how you in turn thank them, bend over grab your ankles so we can screw you again, thank you Swiss can I have another, please........

You could've just flown another airline...
Not between BHX and LH / LFSB), France">BSL I couldn't - well at least not without changing airplanes somewhere else and substantially longer journey times. Next time I'm flying LH via FRA and Swiss can stick its paper ticket charge where the sun doesn't shine, along with their lost revenue.

My understanding was that the printed ticket service charge should only be required if the customer explicitly demands a printed ticket for a city pair where an electronic ticket would actually be issuable. For those routes where an e-ticket is unavailable, the extra charge should not apply. Maybe the rules have changed?
However, instead of spending your time complaining on this forum Skymonster, write a polite letter to Swiss customer services explaining the situation and perhaps you will be pleasantly surprised at the result.
As for the original ticket price - it is supply and demand - and Swiss are certainly not the only ones to charge what they think the market can accept. But it is a free world and you can choose whether to fly with them or not. And bear in mind that not every airline can fly you there and back for 2p thanks to debatable subsidies.
