What was the highest ever recorded airspeed/groundspeed you've ever noticed on Airshow of either an Airbus or Boeing commercial aircraft in a revenue flight? What was the equipment & registration of the aircraft and what route was it flying on?
The highest airspeed I've ever seen on Airshow was 800 mph or 1280 kph on a 744 flying eastward over the Pacific Ocean but I don't know what the actual groundspeed or the tail wind was.

I've seen 650 or so on groundspeed on the L1011 from LAX to JFK(we all had commuter flights to make...).
Also on the L1011 I've seen M .88 for awhile. We did .86 all the time.TC

I saw both the highest and the lowest groundspeed on the same day. It was a flight to Rome FCO from MLA some years back. Aircraft was a B732. Northbound the groundspeed was 292kts and southbond 555kts.

1250 km/h (what's that in miles - roughly 800) on flight SQ285 from Singapore to Auckland on B747-412 9V-SPI for about an hour over eastern Australia through to roughly Brisbane...

I flew backwards in a Navy C130 once. The IRU's said 7 knots backwards. We were screwing around in W263 with about 160kts of headwind. And I did see .90 on an L1011 on two different occasions. Both on a descent.

Operated a Lockheed L1011-500 a few years ago on the route FUK-NRT, and at FL410, with an indicated mach number of .86, the groundspeed readout on the FMS was 746knots...857mph, approximately.
