Can anyone give me and the group some more specifics on the construction at Las Vegas (KLAS). I was back there about a week ago, and noticed that a new “tower” was beingbuilt on the D Terminal. Could anyone shed some light on the need for a new tower, as well as plans for the old one at KLAS? If it is a new control tower, it looks very small and would probably have an obstructed view of the north end of the field due to the parking structure.
I did a search of A.net, as well at the KLAS website and found nothing.

It's going to be a ground control tower for the D Gates. The main tower will continue to handle air traffic, but ground traffic will be split between the smaller towers at the D Gates and atop the parking structure.
