We all heard about this American pilot from Virgin, who was caught just before his flight over the Atlantic with a full load of passengers.
I heard that it's was a common practice on the seventies. I just wonder how many people in many different areas do just the same.
We know it is a very irresponsible act and a very stressful. Does it justify?
He can get up to five years in prison and maybe his professional life is finish.
Mr Branson will have a lot to say to his clients.
What you guys think about?

Hmm.. IMO, a pilot has to have personal or other big problems to do such things.

Why else would a well paid B747 captain ( or others ) who is going to fly 383 passengers ( on the Dulles-Heathrow route ) risk his job, his life, and the biggest problem: The life of the passengers and the crew???

I can't see any sense in getting druk before a flight. I know a few pilots here, and I know that they all have one or more days off between some flights.
So there's time to get drunk, but why before a flight.

I don't get it.

regards, Flo

I imagine the guy probably went out on the razz the night before and 1 too many and unfortunatley still smelled of drink, I doubt he was physically drinking before entering the cockpit, but that said if you work in the aviation business you dont drink then work simple !! Airworthiness Notice 47 refers.
