The last Volareweb's Board meeting decided the recapitalization of the airline and a major fleet expansion to double their fleet within 2,5 years to become the Europe's second largest LCC.
Soon it will be possible to purchase on line their flights for the Summer season, but on their web page it's already possible to see some new European destinations:

Venice/Marco Polo-Stockholm/Arlanda

Milan/Malpensa-Warsaw

Rome/Fiumicino-Warsaw

Rome/Fiumicino-Krakow

Milan/Malpensa-Timisoara

Interesting new destinations particularly Krakow. It's not all going well at Volareweb though as I understand that they are pulling all but one of their London routes early next year. The 3x weekly LTN-CAG is the only London route to remain.

It is at present but the Venice Marco Polo and Rimini routes to/from Luton are to be suspended after Jan 11. Flights can no longer be booked after this date. LTN-RMI will most probably make a comeback in the summer.

What is the reason given? I mean one doesn't decide to double te fleet just like that! Big grin

are they doing so well they need to expand, or do they foresee a growth in demand and are anticipating this growth? even though i have heard of them and see them once in a while, i am still curious as tothe motivations for such a leap.
thanks

Milan MXP - Timisoara TSR pretty clever one although Tarom/Alitalia already codeshare on this particular route using an ATR 42-500. Is Volareweb gonna use an A320 ?

MXP-Timisoara will be A320.

Other new routes:

Bucharest BBU- MXP/FCO also with A320.

It seems Volareweb choose to GO EAST!!!

This is not directly to Volareweb but I need to ask it.
Last week I heard that Mr Eurnekian, an Armenian-Argentenian busnissman, will be investing $50m in Volare in a bid to have some control over the airline. It was said that he plans to start flights to South America and Armenia.

Does anyone have any more info on this?

Eurnekian has already taken over the Yerevan airport in Armenia and plans to modernize it.

Regards.

Yes it's true,

Mr Eurnekian and AIA (American International Airports LTD), using a Dutch company, S.A.V. Stichting Administratiekantoor Volare, with a full Italian board, invested €40m in Volare Group. A team of Italian banks and local company will put others €50m in the next months, so the actual owner, Mr. Zoccai, will go down to 30%.

As result of this operation Volare Group will buy 30% of Southern Winds and will help the Argentinean company to develop a long haul network to Europe.

Volare at the same time will give back to the leasing company all the reaming 4 A332 and it will keep an all A320s fleet.
