To all you ladies and gentlemen flying all over the world, what is your favourite
trip in your company. What is THE most popular flight everbybody hopes
to see appearing on their rosters???
For me it is the AMS-KUL flight. (B-744 Combi)
We're gone for 10 days. That means 8 days in KUL with on the third day
one KUL-MNL-KUL. And when we get back it gives 7 days off.
Second is the AMS-NRT or AMS-KIX. Only a 24h stop but it gives 8days off.
I'm curious to hear about favorites in other companies!!!

Wow, fave trips. I love Japan's because we make a bucket load of allowances... its great ! SYD-NRT is about a 35 hour slip at Narita Airport.
I love SYD-JFK trips, only had it once but its a great trip - and because we do SYD-LAX 3x daily but LAX-JFK only 5x weekly, you can get the 51 hour slip in JFK ...
I also love day trips SYD-AKL, SYD-CHC ... easy days on 743 or 763 with the 743 having personal IFE so pax watch TV and were left to our own devices
our US and EUR trips are long so we get 4-7 days off after them

Last week, operated eastbound around the world, Newark-Ostend (24 hr. layover), Bahrain (12 hr. layover), Hong Kong (12 hr. layover again), Chitose, Anchorage (24 hrs. in the snow), O'Hare, JFK. Day flying most of the way, great views of the Himalayas being the highlight. The only complaint is that the layovers (especially in Hong Kong) were WAY too short...

And on top, it counts for a lot of taxfree expenses! A nice side effect!
Other than that, I mostly like the short layovers with 24 hrs in the US, or Carribean, FRA-ATL-FRA and FRA-PHL-FRA where my favorite, (now sadly back to A340 operation).
And if you believe it or not I just love our FRA-SEZ-FRA flight, with only 12 hrs layover (just enough to get some rest)!
But for me there is no other longhaul that is more relaxed than this one!
Two nightflights (I´m a nightowl), never fully booked, a lot of flight hrs in a pretty short time, always easy to bid on (because many other F/A´s don´t like the trip), nice rest time afterwards and mostly nice passengers!
Just came back from one this morning.
To be honest, I like to be at home! I fly for the flying, and not in particular for the layover, like many other F/A´s do!
That doesn´t mean, that I don´t appreciate a nice trip and layover, but it´s definetley not everything! I love my job, and flying, but I also have a life beside the airline!

Oh! What a fabulous trip. That would be a favorite of mine! There's just so much to do and see.
I hope they put you guys in one of LAS's really wonderful hotels.
The longest layover I've ever had anyplace was 48 hours. I've flown trips with 48 hours in LAS, MAD, and MUC. Anything longer than that was the result of mechanical or weather.

PiedmontGirl, this trip is really fabulous! I just loooove it! Did it 3 times since I´m with DE! But you bet, that bidding for that particular trip is tough!
We sometimes also have other "weeklong" layovers, e.g. ANC,PMV, BKK, MRU, CUN... and some more.
Depends on the season, schedule and sometimes if we offer any ad-hoc charters in addition e.g. Military, National Sportteams, Cruises... etc!
At LAS we stay at the Alexis Park Resort on Harmon Ave.
Pretty nice Hotel, with suites, jacuzzi and many other amenieties!
I´ve seen many different airline crews there: WN, TW, UA, CO! Where do the US crews stay while in LAS?
I guess they put the crews there to assure them a quiet rest time away from the strip! It´s really a nice hotel and I don´t think that I want them to change it!
Btw, where are the US crews staying while in FRA ande MUC?

L1011Lover, it would be the most wonderful trip. The entertainment in LAS is the best in the world. I've seen Siegfried and Roy twice. I was hoping to see them again, but, alas, that won't be possible.
Nothing in LAS is very expensive unless you lose a lot of money gambling. The weather is beastly hot in the Summer, but you're never more than a few yards from an air conditioned building of some sort. If you ever get the chance to go there in the winter, do. In the winter, LAS feels like the islands. It's just a joy.
I'm not surprised to hear that it's a very senior, very much sought after trip. It would be at any airline. Those week long layovers would be just wonderful. That is such a marvelous thing for you guys to have.
US crews have bounced around all over the place in LAS. The last place we stayed was the San Remo. However, there was some kind of problem with it and the crews have moved again. It seems like we move every two or three months in LAS. Some of the hotels have not even had restaurants.
It sounds like your hotel there is nice. Good for you. It's good that you are happy with and like staying there.
For a long time the FRA crews stayed in Weisbaden at the Crown Plaza at No. 8 Banhoff Strasse. However, they have moved in the last few months to another little town there (I can't remember the name of it just now -- sorry ) I loved staying in Weisbaden. There is a little restaurant called the Clock Tower that has the most wonderful cream of potato soup in the entire world. A bowl of that, a salad, some bread, a glass of wine and you have a meal. The also serve an absolutely outstanding roast pork loin. I think it's the best I've ever eaten.
Right now, I cannot remember the name of the hotel in Munich. It's an older hotel, but very nice. If you walk out the front door, turn right, go to the corner, turn left, and cross the street, you walk directly into a shopping area. If you turn left in front of the hotel, go to the corner and turn left again, you find three automobile dealerships right in a row. A number of airlines house their crews there. I can see everything about that hotel, I just cannot remember the name.

Flying for a regional, there arn't too many exciting places. Its nice when we had 20h in Salt Lake City or Aspen. Other than that some like the Regina overnights for shopping and gambling. We had some nice fort walton pensacola and baton rouge overnights, but they are gone. But anywhere besdies flint michigan and i'm happy!

I discovered very early on that a person can have fun on a layover of reasonable length just about no matter where he is laying over.

ZRH-BKK (1 to 6 nights depending on day of dep.)
ZRH-DXB (2 to 4 nights)
and my fav. European layovers are IST (24 hours), CDG (very nice hotel and the best breakfast buffet in the network!) and ATH (used to stay in the Astir Palace, right on the beach. Now I think we've changed the hotel :-( )
The ones I don't like are Moscow (DME, makes you get up at 3 AM), and all the US layovers as we usually only stay 1 night and I get bad jetlag once back in Switzerland!
