I'm not surpised that the metal detectors didn't find those two pen knives. Metal detectors do miss things from time to time. They are, after all, not perfect.

Rember that guy who tried to board a Ryanair flight several months back with a gun, didn't he make it past a scanner too but was caught by the secondary check at the aircraft door? I think it was in Sweeden or somwhere similar.
