Does anyone know anymore details about CO #006 diverting to Sand Island airfield on Midway Island in the Pacific Tuesday night. The plane was due back in Houston this afternoon. I am waiting for a friend of mine to get home and call me. They were on the plane and apparently with only 35 residents on the island, they had to stay on the plane for their entire stay which was almost 24 hours I heard.

From what I've heard from numerous sources, the plane should be back into IAH by now, if not currently en route. Continental flew out a team of mechanics with all the necessary supplies to fix the oil leak. It should be on its way now, and if not then very shortly. Hope your friend is doing okay! Although, I will admit...if a plane had to emergency land somewhere, what a nice place to do so!

The CO #006 arrived back at Houston-Bush Intercontinental at 15:29 local time today. My friend is at the Marriott IAH tonight and home to TPA tomorrow. All he told my wife was that it was a long stopover and that he would tell me more later when he got some sleep.
