After reading that US is considering selling off assets would it be wiser to implement the new E170's on the Shuttle routes? I dont know what load factors are on shuttle but maybe by throwing a few of these on there it could truly maximize profits on the shuttle routes. I also know US has much more to accomplish besides this but I could see this instrument as a way of maximizing what is profitable for the carrier in limbo.

Another q for you... Do you think NW would be a potential buyer for some of these assets? I can see NW making a PHL or CLT hub very handy for N/S operations along the Eastern Seaboard. Also they would benefit greatly from Shuttle service. Just my two cents though.

I doubt they would go for the shuttle as well as CLT. Whatever NW wants to do in the southeast they can do from their MEM hub, no sense having both CLT and MEM. The only reason why NW would go after PHL is because NW is lacking a trans-atlantic gateway along the east coast. Right now DTW and MSP are the prime gateways and are all the way in the midwest. If NW ever did come to PHL, PHL would most likely become their main transatlantic gateway.
However, i dont think you are going to see this happen. This is probably just a stunt by US to get the unions to talk again so that US can have another 60 airbus jets delivered within the next 2 years.
