Hi guys.
Has anyone here ever been to a Fly-In community? If you have, were you just visiting by car or did you actually fly there?
Also, are these aviation communities found all over the world, or are they mainly located in the USA?
I've seen many advertisments in the back of aviation magazines that list homes for sale at aviation communities ....... where you have your car parked in front of your house and your airplane parked in a hangar at the back. These homes all have their own private taxiway to the community's runway (usually a single paved airstrip several thousand feet long for smal GA aircraft ........ I've seen Learjets too!!! ).

Hi guys.
Well, it appears for now that nobody has been to one of these aviation communities.
It would be neat to hear from someone who actually lives in one. Talk about needing Big Bucks! $$$$$$$$$$ I wonder what the annual maintanance fee's for the runway are?
Around 12 years ago, I was driving eastbound across Florida's interior while on my way from Tampa Bay to Lake Okeechobee, when I saw a sign that was pointing out directions to the Lake Placid Aviation Community. I wanted to turn around, go back, and drive north to the community so I could see what it was like, and to check out the different types of aircraft, but, I knew I'd be there for over an hour or so, so I kept on driving east (I was on a schedule) with the plan to visit the place on the drive back.
The drive back never happened. I ended up driving on to the east coast and went to the Kennedy Space Center!

Although they are not too common, we have 4 of them in north central Colorado. I actually did all my training at one of them...in addition to being a fly-in community, it is a public airport with an FBO, flight school, maintaince facilities, etc.
