For all those of you who prefere KL's old scheme over the new one.
NO PANIC! It will still be around for more then 6 years.
So far 18 or 19 planes have been done with recently the first MD-11 and
737-800.
There are still more than 70 planes to repaint and it is scheduled that the
very last to roll out the paintshop will be the 747-400 PH-BFY in april 2010.
As for me personally, it couldn't go fast enough as I prefer the new scheme
way more than the old one!
Cheers!!!

To me it doesn't make any difference, the new scheme still looks the same age as the old one, but it's a good scheme. BTW is the Fokker fleet getting a touch up too?

Don't know for sure.
But the horizontal grey line remains to distinguish Cityhopper from
KL, so they won't get the same sheme in any case.

Why wait so long?

I mean, isn't a repaint usually done during a D-Check?

Sabena 690,

Exactly,
PH-BFY was delivered in 2002 and her first D-check is scheduled in april 2010.

Does anybody know when the old scheme first appeared? I think I've seen pics taken as far back as 1974 with the old colours. It certainly dated well and the new scheme is more or less just an update. The original designers certainly did a good job!

yes, the old scheme is around 30 years old.
And that itself was based on (though with greater differences than the current change) the scheme they've had since the early 1960s which was introduced with the first jetliners.

What's to stop them from painting an aiplane before a "D" check. NW has N676NW in the new colors and it was delivered in 2002.
