I flew with them about a month ago.
December 24.
Santiago-Puerto Montt-Punta Arenas
this was however Lanexpress service. It was a very new, nice A320. Seats were about average. The food was a lot more than i expected, both segments were under 2 hours and i got a sandwich and some other stuff on both of them. Very impressive. And it wasnt bad food, it was fresh. Their hub at Santiago seems well maintained, a very open airport, i loved it. Overall i would say this airline is up there with any other world famous airline. I would fly them. I dont know about the FA's on my flight they were all men. Very professional, however.
Give them a try

I flew with them from MEX to EZE via SCL, and then back from Montevideo to SCL (stopover for a few days), then returing to MEX. The food was excellent, the entertainment fair (the headphones weren't loud enough to hear anything), the plane was kind of old but in good condition. The F/A were very cute. The MEX-SCL was delayed and all other flights were ontime.

Fabulous in F... the F seats on the A340 are identical to the ones AA just yanked out of the 763s (controls and all) and aren't suites but are still very comfy. FAs aren't the warmest but are VERY attentive. The service is different but still on par with BA/CX and the food eclipses them both by far. The lounge in SCL (salon something or other) is fairly nice but I've seen better. GREAT airline.
Service: very professional
Food: great for domestic flights (hot meal + wine)
Entertainment: music + TV
F/A: very cute
(Girls in Chile are cute but in Argentina girls are really gorgeous...).
For me, LanChile is the best airline in South America.

As a "lanfan" no more, I can tell you this airline is only a shadow of its former self. What was once an airline of class, customer service, and absolute professionalism has transformed itself into another banana boat.
From my time working at MIA, they always had a history of having gorgeous women working for them-both on board- and on land.
LanChile was a great airline when it was government owned, and since it when public has been a disaster.

I flew FRA-MAD-SCL-LIM-SCL-MAD-FRA and back on LanChile, and LIM-CUZ-LIM on LanPeru, and have to say that it was an overall fantastic experience.
The only negative point was the ground staff in Peru, which was very arrogant, but though I would take LanChile wherever it is possible.
