My mom is a United F/A, and she said that UnitedNews and Update AFA (an employee service) said that the last 737-200 was retired on 12/15/98. United is in the process of retiring 727's, DC-10's and older 747's. The 737-300 and -500's will eventually be transferred to United Shuttle, sold, or retired. The mainline fleet will eventually consist of the A319, A320, 747-400, 757, 767, and 777. United Shuttle will have 737-300 and -500's. No info on United Express, as that is owned and operated by UAL Corp., and not United Airlines. Any more UA ?'s, ask.

I was at the Allentown airport on 1/30/99 and I saw and photographed a United 737-291.

CAPT777-- in the UA FA inflight handbook, there are still the two configs. of the -200's left in UA's fleet. I believe the -200ND and -200NN. check them out.

Regarding UA's 732s--they are indeed still in active use. Perhaps all of the non-advanced 1960s vintage-222s have been retired?

I know they were still in service on December 30, because I flew on one. It was N993UA, and I flew ORD-ORF-RIC. It was a 737-291.

I think that the 727's will still be around for another 3 years.
