It's good to see UL expanding: their service is very professional and highly recommended.

Airmale, that's what I thought as well. Is it a nonstop flight? Or will they go via Bangkok like their HKG flights?

A very good move on ULs part as lots of Chinese tourists visit CMB and MLE every year plus they can take pax easily to Southern India-CCU-BOM-DEL etc, the whole of Arabia-South Africa and Europe (esp key cities like CDG-FRA-LHR)

A very good move on ULs part and I advise them maximum 3 weekly flights with A 332s...A 343s not needed for this route especially if its nonstop...if its via BKK then A 343 is fine!

China has been confirmed long time ago but has been postponed due to several reasons, including SARS. It looks like PEK might come online in NOV04 asap UL got another 343.

PEK will be operated as CMB-BKK-PEK with full traffic rights on the BKK-PEK sector.

Swissgabe, happy new year mate! and thanks for the news.

Any idea on the frequency of the flights? Also will it be an addition to the existing CMB-BKK-HKG? According to a friend of mine in Colombo, UL's flights to Bangkok are doing really well. Any reason on why is that?

Zizou, txs, all the best for you as well.

Don't know about freqs but I know that UL would like to go daily into BKK soon and 3 times to PEK together with 4 times to HKG would give daily flights into BKK.

I think there is a lot of religious traffic from Thailand to Sri Lanka beside a lot of tourists transitting at CMB.
