How Does One "mothball" A Jet?

I've always seen pics of either derelict jets or simply idle or stored jets in various places like Mojave or Tucson, waiting to be brought back into service or purchased by another airline. Usually the windows, tires, and engines are covered in Mylar or aluminum foil. I can see how this is important since the plane is sitting in a rather hostile environment, especially for rubber components.

However, since planes are like cars and are really not designed to be idle machines, what else must be done to properly store a plane? Are all the fluids drained totally? I'm sure there are forum participants who have had experience in these desert airports, either with actually preparing the planes for storage or readying them for service once again, or actually flying them to and from airline hubs. Any interesting stories, such as finding a colony of rodents in the galley?

Looking forward to the replies to this one....

Cheers,

Brian
