Rumour on the Sydney Airport message board.
Eff NW 2004:
DXB-BKK-ADL on A330
DXB-MEL direct A345 with extension to AKL
Existing DXB-SIN-MEL 773 continues to CHC
If true, the Emirates domination of Australia continues. Also good to see they have chosen BKK-ADL, a new city-pair rather than SIN-ADL which SQ flies already.
Also curious to see if ADL-AKL eventuates, as it is another as yet non-existent city-pair.

Well a double daily into MEL with the A345 has always been on the table. I wonder if there will be a price diffrence between the two if it does go ahead.
I wonder what market they will have with ADL, i really thought they would have done it as an add on to another city to MEL etc.

Dubai-Melbourne non-stop is definetly starting in June sometime. Its in Amadeus.
At this point the non-stop A345 service operates 6 times a week, arrival time aroun 0600, and departure at around 2200.
So far, no extension of this route to NZ has been announced so it apears the aircraft will remain on the ground at MEL.

I really like this idea of BKK-ADL...a very creative untapped route and the BKK-ADL-BKK route has a lot of potential for success. The A 332 is perfect for this route and shall do well. I would advise 3 flights a week then slowly increasing to 4 and 5 per week.
QF-SQ and others who fly to ADL from ASIA must be shivering at this proposed annoucement by EK as it it will hit them hard

EK had a DXB-MEL service in mind for a while BUT it was just a matter of when
I take it EK have received more A345's to be introducing the DXB-MEL route How many A345's have EK received up to date

At tis crazy rate EK is expanding, we may soon find that EK may fly to even small towns like Ipoh in malaysia, Albany in WA, and all other small places... such aggressive expansion kinda disgust me...... cant stand EK..

Im surprised that all the major GULF airlines fly to GENEVA and EMIRATES does not!!! I wonder why??? If KU sends B 772s twice a week there then MEA sends 5 weekly A 332s and A 321s, GF sends an A 332 and QR sends an AB6 and Saudia a B 772...surely there is something big in GVA for the Arab airlines so why hasnt EK taken them on in GVA which is a very popular destination with rich high yield pax arabs.
Dont be surprised with EK increasing frequencies to ICN as well as starting BEIJING (EK / ZBAA), China">PEK) soon...when will they get rights to fly to Bangalore-Calcutta.
Btw EKs GLASGOW timetable is out on its website...daily flights with a 2 class A 332 nonstop from DXB.
