I was told today morning that Port-au-Prince Airport was closed due to violent protests in Port-au-Prince. Dutch Caribbean Airlines flight 5474 was on its way to Haiti, when it had to return to Miami this morning due to the airport closure.
Here's some additional news about the situation in Haiti:

I was in PAP around New Year's. New Year's Day was Haiti's Bicentennial. There were a lot of protests then. Let's just say the foreign dignitaries in attendance looked a little scared when the crowds in front of the national palace broke down the gates during the celebrations. Danny Glover was on my flight back to JFK from PAP on the 2nd.
Haiti is a beautiful country, but the poverty is hurting it's people. I hope that there is a peaceful solution for the Haitian people.
I took some great photos of PAP from my uncle in law's home on Morne Calvaire. I'll post them later.
