How long is Delta expected to keep its older 737-200s? And are they looking for a replacement?

Do a search on it, it's been discussed before. If I remember right (which is not very likely, I have a horrible memory), DL is expected to phase out the 732's within the next year or two.

The 737-200s will be around a lot longer than 2 more years. And they will be replaced by a new 100 seater at Delta. No decision made yet on the aircraft. I would expect earliest delivery would be around 07.

They were delivered between 1983-1987, so they have a lot of years left to fly. Some aren't even 18 yet!

Not only do the 737's have lots of years left, with only 100 seats, they are very comfortable in coach.

If they do replace they with 100 seaters remember delta has an exculive contract with Boeing (signed in 1997) for their fleet replacement, so if they go mainline expect some 717 you 717 fans (personaly I think more crj's would come in the 90 seat variety but I have no inside on this)

I don't believe DL is looking for any 732 replacemen anytime soon. Ages ago I posted a thread asking this same question. DL within the last year has recruited many 732's out of storage and has converted all from Delta Express back to the mainline. They appear quite comfortable with them now. Also, keep in mind that the DL 732's were built in the early 1980s, much later than the majority of the 732's. And thus, they are some of the newest. If Delta has brought them out of storage recently, I don't think they will return to that state permanently for some time.

Weren't these contracts were VOIDED when Boeing bought MDD?

But granted, DL will most likely still follow that plan.
