Hi!

I was wondering which airline has the best drink service in Y-Class on domestic and international flights.

I would have to go for United domestic (cranberry juice!) and for KLM on international flights because they are friendly and very generous when it comes to giving you the beverage of choice.

Iberia is NOT aka they give you ONE drink on a 9.5 hour flight!

I think that most US carriers on domestic flights are great, they all usually have the same types of drinks (different companies: Pepsi vs. Coke) and keeping the full can just depends on the crew.

On international flights, I think CO does not serve free alcohol in Y. I'm not sure about the rest.

Hmm...were you asleep or not paying attention? You can always go to the galley (not during a busy time) and politely ask.

AF because of free champagne and self service bars in Economy Class, LX because of very attentive service (as soon as my beer was empty, I got a new one  Big thumbs up).

Hey Will,

I can tell you: "Get out of here" (well with a Spanish accent).
And I was awake. One drink to go with the meal.
And then the F/As closed their curtain, weren't seen again and yelled at everyone that wanted to get something.
And they showed three instead of two movies (without an intermission). I guess people would have been annoyed if they "interrupted the IFE"....NOT.

someone should tell them humans need H2O to survive and one drink on a 9.5hr flight is just not enough...

Alaska Airlines also have cranberry juice as well! I enjoy drinking this juice! I've never seen other airlines have this!...When I flew on CX, I asked cabin crew whether they have cranberry juice. She could not understand me and has never heard of it! LOL

You can ask Ushermittwoch many questions...I guess I know what the answers will be...
Worst airline? Iberia.
Worst colors? red, orange and yellow because those are IB´s colors.
Worst color for a seat? blue, because IB´s seats are blue.
Worst airport? Madrid-Barajas, because it´s Iberia´s main hub.
Worst beverage? any beverage served onboard any Iberia flight
Worst takeoff? Iberia
Worst landing? Iberia
Worst fleet? Iberia
Worst network? Iberia

Hahaha, I can ask you about cars, TV stars or even umbrellas...you will always answer "iberia this, iberia that".

My last long haul flight was 10.5 hours long onboard an Iberia Airbus A340. Every passenger had at least 1 beverage with each meal service (2 services during the flight). During the rest of the flight, complimentary beverages and sandwiches were available at the rear galley...I had 2 beers and 1 coke during the trip, plus the other 2 beverages I had with my meals (dinner and lunch)...it makes 5 beverages...nobody yelled at me and I had a pleasant chat with the cabin crew members for about 30 minutes.

In your case, maybe the rest of the passengers had lots of drinks so there was nothing left for you.

Being British, my longhaul is with BA and VS - both offer what you want when you want, and you're welcome to ask for more, and on VS you're free to help yourself.

(no champers though - didn't know AF offered this in Y - nice one!)

my only gripe is no Jack Daniels in Y on BA or VS, still Gin & Tonics make a nice alternative!!

I understand that some US carriers do not offer a free alcoholic service in Y - they'll never get my custom with that rule!

I have flown with IBERIA and even in 30 minutes flight(Barcelona-Palma for example) you can ask for free drinks in tourist class, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks(champagne included). In longhaul flights you have to go to the galleys to ask for the drinks........as many times as you want...... and champagne included in ALL flights.

I am not complaining about Iberia's fleet, which is very good, take offs, landings, colors (which actually look pretty nice), routes, European service or Madrid-Barajas which is getting nicer by the day, no it's they PATHETIC intercontinental service. Especially towards people who do not fluently speak Spanish.
I have flown them four times and it was bad on each one of those flights.
And the last two were even worse.

Furtermore, IBERIA747, if you read my post, it says that they showed three movies in a row so that the F/As didn't have to work.

And I wont get offened if you tell the truth about Lufthansa, if their service sucks, it sucks. And that's what is true for Iberia's intercontinental Y-Class service. So get over it.

Showing my usual bias  Big grin I'd say BA. They seem to always get a full drinks service in on shorthaul no matter how short the flight, and there's always a decent range. Likewise longhaul where they'll happily serve you more (within reason) too.

I think VS get extra points for offering a round of brandy/something else (last time I flew VS in Y I think it was brandy/Baileys) after the meal which is a nice touch I wish BA would adopt in Y (or at least W) too.

I'm a G&T man and I must admit, one of the only two good things I can say about my last IB flight was the gin  Smile They served Bombay Sapphire instead of Gordon's which was a very pleasant surprise! [The other good thing was they actually did pre-boarding which BA still seem to refuse to do shorthaul.]

Northwest, Air Canada, etc, all have cranberry juice...

Singapore has to be the best in Y class. Non stop drink cart keeps coming and I think my record was 7 gin and tonics on a flight once, on Singapore. They just kept bringing it, no questions asked. Plus the wine before, during, and after meals, the complimentary alcoholic beverage after takeoff...yeah, they take good care of ya...a far cry above most US carriers...

Well, on my last BA flight in Y class from LHR to ORD, we got plenty of drink service. We had free bottles of wine, lots of frequent water service (both pitcher and bottled water) and drinks with the two meals we were served. And this was only for an 8 hour flight. For a couple moments, I thought I was sitting in Club World class.  Smile

TG serves Congnac after the meal in economy.

Not sure whether SQ still serves Sparking wine in Y though.
