Who do you think will take over the Shuttle b/w DCA-LGA-BOS from USAirways if they sell? Is it probable that they will sell it or just possible? How quickly do you think that USAirways slots will be filled up at DCA by the other airlines if and when they go under? Any ideas?

I think that JetBlue will end up with the US Airways Shuttle, as I doubt any bank would finance a bid by a company in CH. 11 (American). As for the future dominant carrier @ DCA, Delta. Being the other large Shuttle operator, they have a number of slots for that and to other cities, mainly to hub cities. I look to see Song start DCA service if Delta obtains by way of a US Airways sell off. AirTran will grow out of DCA as well, probably replacing US Airways' services to several cities out out DCA.

Just an FYI! - It is United that is in Chapter 11 presently. AA so far has managed to avoid it.

Americas long time "Business" airline - American Airlines. If not American Airlines look for a few suprizes to pop up in US Airways slots at DCA!

You would think that people posting on this forum would know what airlines are in Chapter 11 right now. Amazing.

I would expect that it will be AA, on an inflated purchase price, thanks to the bidding of B6. Interesting to note the adjustment of pricing and value in the market, as the previous asking price was somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 million, and the most likely price point now is 150 million(ish). Look for B6 to bid it up, AA to buy it, and use a portion of the slots for non Shuttle flights.

See you up front!

AA7573E must have read my exact thoughts...I totally agree with the entire post. AA has always wanted the "shuttle" and strives to control major east coast business markets.

The only other alternative to AA to buy the shuttle would be Air Tran. But that's my take on this subject.

Had a blonde monment there concerning AMR and CH. 11, but with AMR having the financial problems they are having, they would probably have a hard time finding a bank willing to finance a purchase of any additional assets.

If American took over the USAirways Shuttle, what aircraft do you think they'd use? Would they buy the Airbus planes from USAirways, or maybe they'd use 737-800's or Fokker 100's until they retire them? MD-80's perhaps? What aircraft would say Delta, JetBlue, or whatever airline that would be interested in buying the Shuttle use?

American has their DCA-NYC-BOS shuttle for couple of years now. They are using ERJ-135/140 on that run.

Don,t look for song to take over more DL flights any time soon. Song is pulling out of IAD may 1 to put on JFK-RSW. SONG will keep one flight JFK-LAS while DL will put a flight on the route kind of strange.
