Just wondering if the spectators terrace at CWL is still open? I noticed on the airport plan on the website that there is one, but sometimes they are closed for security reasons without prior notice. I'm going down to CWL for the weekend from EDI.

Hi..
The viewing area is closed...
On the weekend you should see some ATR42-300 of Air Wales, BMI 733 + 735, BY 752, MYT320, FR 732, KLM F70's, FLYBE 146's (charter) and some other odd charters to the European ski resorts!

I visited CWL last year in September and the viewing area was closed. The lady at the information desk told me it was closed during winter. Well, British winter starts early
All in all, CWL was still worth the visit. As already mentioned in some other replies, there are some good views if you walk around the roads near the airport. The restaurant in the departure building also offers some (more or less) good views. Enjoy your trip!
