While reading the post about DL and PA's Airbus thread, wanted to know if any of you remember the details of the swap between AA and PA in the early 80's.

PA had recieved DC-10's from NA and wanted to get rid of them, and AA wanted to drop its 747 fleet.

There was a swap of A/C but I am not sure if there was cash involved. Don't remember the number of ships involved either. Anyone have the details?

I'm relying on my hazy memory here, but around 1983/84 there was an agreement to swap 15 ex-National DC-10s to American for 6 (?) 747s for Pan Am plus some cash for PA as well. The DC-10s served with AA until the fleet was retired. Pan Am operated these 747s for a short while until sold to United along with the Pacific routes. Again, just from memory here.  Wink/being sarcastic Regards.
