Good news! So will these replace any of the 742's?

Also are they looking at additional A340-200's?

I even heard that they will use the 744 on the AKL/SYD flight which is good, then I get to see them first hand!

Any ideas what their short haul plans are, I heard they were considering either B737-500s or Fokker 100s?

Where will the remaining 3 B 744s come from?

UNTIED is eager to sell-lease out.

SQ has 7 in the deserts of USA and AUSTRALIA

KOREAN is leasing out some B 744s (to Air India at least)

AIR CANADA is returning its other 2 B 744 full pax versions by the end of the summer!!!

My bet will be on either ex AC or ex UAL B 744 models...does the UAL have the same engines as the AC one and have AR reconfigured ACs interior cabin of the B 744 to make it 3 class and filled with other amenities?

I would guess that 2 are coming from AC, since AC have GE engines and UA, SQ have PW as do KE. 1 ex AC went to PR who were the original customer to order that aircraft but didn't take delivery.

Not sure what ever happened to the A346 order, I have to imagine that it was cancelled a long time ago.

The one I saw last week at EZE was ex-Air Canada, so it would make sense to stick with that type. The configuration is identical to Air Canada's, they didn't change a thing except the paint scheme.

Heard that TG is going to buy all the ex-SQ 744s. Is that true?

Let's just blame it on yields.

Apparently Aerolineas Argentinas is also to receive 1 A340 ,a A310-300 around 8 743-500 (for their domestic operations) and 2 MD83.
All these where annopunced at the Marriott Plaza Hotel in Buenos Aires by the airline president Matta.
There has also been a 39.78% growth in the number of passengers that the airline carried, along with an increase of 156.71% growth in profits.
They are also getting ready to start up the regional carriers that will be based in Salta, Cordoba and Bariloche. These 'hubs' will be utilised to stop the 'have to go via AEP' problem that many AR passengers face.
and THE BIG NEWS:

Aerolineas Austral Chile
Aerolineas Austral Uruguay
Aerolineas Austral Paraguay
Aerolineas Austral Bolivia

All these new shoot offs will begin operation late 2004-2005!
